Christmas pics

I was going back over some old pics I took of client’s homes and parties in the past and felt the need to share these three, simply because I like them.

Presents

Just a few presents I wrapped for work…and I LOVE wrapping gifts!

Coastal Pet Rescue Puppy Litter

My husband and I just took in a litter of 4 puppies for Coastal Pet Rescue in anticipation of Christmas adoptions. Here’s a look at these four adorable faces:

Chestnut

Chestnut is the runt of the litter and by far, the sweetest. This little girl just wants to play and cuddle. Her two favorite things.

Frosty

Frosty is the clutz of the group. This girl has fallen in the pool, off the sofa, ran into walls, tripped over thresholds, et cetera. If she survives foster care in our home, she will surely be a hands full for her new owners.

Vixen

Vixen: the pretty and well mannered pup in the group. She loves to pose for pictures, curl up under the covers with you, and play with our other dogs. I can’t wait to see what she is like when she is older.

Guiness

The only boy in the litter; Guiness or as my husband likes to call him, Fat Santa. He has obviously been doing all the eating for the 4 of them combined. He’s a big 6 lb bundle of fur with gorgeous blue eyes.

Temporary Thanksgiving Puppy

Our new friend Meryl, dog trainer and owner of K9 Bully and Friends, has asked us to take in this sweet Boxer mix for the week of Thanksgiving while she is out of town. Poor thing was found here in Pooler and now we are trying to get her adopted into a good home. Vet predicts that she is only about one and half and has a very full life ahead of her so if you know of anyone looking to adopt, consider Cassidy.

Tybee Sunrise

My best friend was in town visiting and she insisted that one morning we get up early, drive to the Tybee pier, and watch the sun rise. I told her that a picture of the sun rising over the Atlantic looks exactly the same as one of the sun setting over the Pacific (where she lives). This unfortunately did not get me out of a 5AM wake up call but it did land me this cool pic of the sun rise…. or is it a sun set?

Once Upon a Time…

Once Upon a Time there was a Wicked Fairytale Party with Riding Hoods, Wolves, Humpty, Alice, Fairies, Princesses, the Mad Hatter and more! It was a crazy evening of storybook fun, complete with gingerbread house and castles. Here’s a look at our annual party….

Public Notice

Public Notice sign at front entrance alerted guests to all the comings and goings in the land of Far Far Away. Did you know the Damsels in Distress had their own club?

Dorothy’s House

Dorothy’s House just so happened to land next to ours on this fateful night. Unfortunately the witch still couldn’t be saved!

Humpty Dumpty

Inside, my oddly shaped paper mache Humpty Dumpty was waiting to greet all guests of our kingdom.

Gingerbread House Bar

The kitchen, of course, became the inside of the gingerbread house with no walls or cupboards left uncovered. I wanted to make part of it edible but was worried about having a family of ants crash the party. Originally, the ceiling was to be a literal popcorn ceiling. Oh well!

Princess and the Pea Bed

No fairytale party would be complete with the princess and the pea bed.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

This is my version of the mad hatter party in my courtyard. Throw a few mismatched tablecloths, alternating red and black chargers, clock inlays, used misfit china, old books, and torn lamps on a table and voila! a tea party suited for all my guests!

The End

The last words you saw when leaving the party. Sad :(

Note: I have more pics to post but my site is being stubborn and not letting me upload them. I’ll check back later and cross my fingers that it works.

Fascinators fascinate me!

I must have been hiding under a rock for years. Do you ever think that? I pride myself on being pretty up to date on all things retro and vintage and then poof!….out of nowhere comes this new fad based on retro fashion that I somehow overlooked all these years. Hair Accessories! AND my favorite era of all time, the 20’s, was the mecca of all hair accessories!!!! I’m ashamed it took me this long but now that I’m aware and alert, I vow to keep my eyes open at all times from this point forward.

With that said, here are some of my oldies but goodies:

Ribbons and flowers

Netting

BeadingPretty

Whether it is ribbons or lace or jewels, I love texture mixed into silky hair. Now what to do with my hair today?

Clever Ideas for Hotel Fobs

Hotel Fobs are becoming a thing of the past. You know what I’m talking about…those plastic or metal keychains with the name of the hotel on it and the actual key to the room on the other end of the ring. So it’s not surprising to see them popping up being used in alternate, yet clever ways:

Hotel Fob Necklace

An antique key fob from the Penn-Harris Hotel in Harrisburg, PA is the focal point where chains, crystals and keys collide. Super fine, fancy and fantastic by MmeFortuna on Etsy.com

Extra door key

Plus you can use them for something as simple as a spare key to the house or that extra key to the back door that never goes anywhere. I’d like to try to find one to the hotel where my husband and I went on our honeymoon and use it with the ribbon as an embellishment on our anniversary present. The options are endless but the fobs are not. So happy hunting!

Birthdays & Bucket Lists

It was my birthday two days ago and so it was time to tackle yet another item on my bucket list. Each year I try to scratch a line through a minimum of one item, though it would be nice to annihilate 3 or 4 per year. Either way, I decided to finally get the tattoo I’ve been wanting for years. It’s funny because I kept putting this particular item on the “waiting” list because of the pain I was promised to experience. However, it was not painful. Aside from some temporary discomfort, it was quick and easy. Here’s a pic:

Triskele Tatto

I did decide to fill in the center for aesthetic and personal reasons. A) I thought it looked cleaner to make the center black and B) I felt as though having the center filled in created a feeling of being centered.

Overall, I’m completely happy with my decision. So now it is time to check that list and see what else I want to accomplish in my 36th year. Hmmm…..the possibilities!

Derby Devil Boot Camp

Here is something I have been wanting to do for a few years now. AND if I didn’t already have a previous committment, I would be there. What is it I am speaking of?

The Savannah Derby Devils Boot Camp!

 Boot camp

I’ve been wanting to join these lovely ladies for some fun skating and competition and hope to be able to get to a function in the near future. In the meantime, I’ll see if they need some help planning their events!

Halloween theme has been chosen!!!!!

Yep. That’s right! It’s that time of year again when my wheels start a spinnin’ and themes begin popping in and out of my brain until I narrow it down, close my eyes, and pick one that gives me options. So this year’s theme is…..

(drum roll please)

……Wicked Fairytales! Everything from Grimm’s Riding Hood to Aesop’s Goose with the Golden Egg to Carroll’s Wonderland and more! No nursery rhyme or Andersen tale will be safe! The house will be transformed, decor will be over the top, and costumes will be a “treat” to make!

Here’s a quick look at some of my inspiration pieces….

Dreary Drawing

I love the composition of this drawing and hope to pull off some of the silhouette from it.

Little Red Riding Hood

What a great rendition of Little Red Riding Hood! This one gives me such an awesome sense of girl power and the eternal fight to the death. I just wish there was some way to bring it to life at the party.

Reading by the light of flowers

Now this last one is not so much the wicked end of the theme as it is just a cool idea for a picture to be taken out in the yard when in costume and reading something like Grimm’s fairytales. I’m just going to have to figure out how to wire black roses with lights for the same effect?
